Yoga Teacher Training Overview - ytt summer 2021
This 200-hour Vinyasa and Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training is not just designed to train you to become a yoga teacher. It is a foundational course designed for yogis with a variety of experience. It is ideal for serious yoga students who wish to deepen their existing practice, for those who want to learn everything around yoga and for those who want to teach yoga to others. It's also suitable for yoga instructors wishing to expand their existing skills and perhaps learn another style of yoga.
You will obtain a solid self-practice based on Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. You will master the basic yoga poses which will later on help you get into more advanced poses. This means that you will no longer put your mat at the back of the yoga room. You will feel proud and confident of your practice. You will be the inspiration for the rest of the students in that class!
This type of yoga will help you with mental focus and concentration which means that you can use these tools in your everyday life so that you can relax and feel serene off the mat. For example at work when your boss says: You're late again.
You will learn how to practice Ashtanga yoga on your own, anytime and anywhere. This means that you will no more be dependent on other yoga teachers. You will practice Ashtanga guided classes and self-practice classes. Want to practice modified Ashtanga with Joanna?
By the end of this ytt, (yoga teacher training) you will obtain the skills, tools, and confidence to teach Vinyasa Flow Yoga and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Students are usually pleasantly surprised when they start teaching yoga to their fellow students. Even if you don't want to become a yoga teacher, will see that teaching yoga will help you distinguish an experienced yoga teacher from a less experienced yoga teacher. Can you tell now if your yoga teacher is experienced or not?
You will practice teaching in a safe environment where it's totally OK to make mistakes. You will have a lot of fun in these classes while growing as a teacher in the same time.
You will have many opportunities to teach yoga to your fellow students, giving and receiving constructive feedback. We strongly encourage each student to discover and develop her/his unique style and voice as a teacher. We do not create a monologue of how and what the teachers should say in their classes. Want to practice Vinyasa with us?
This training is recognized by Yoga Alliance USA and UK and focuses on 4 educational categories: Asana practice, Yoga Philosophy & Ayurveda, Teaching Skills and Functional Anatomy. Upon successful completion, graduates can start teaching yoga straight away and they can register with Yoga Alliance USA and UK.
We welcome “stiff” students, students suffering from an injury or other health challenges, and we encourage their attendance! By the way, is there anyone in this world who has no injuries? Pregnant women are welcome when they are in the 2nd or 3rd trimester.
If you love learning, have a body, and can breathe – this training is for you.

Location - by the beach
Andriana Apartments is an apartment complex located on Corfu Island, one of the most iconic Greek islands, sometimes called the "Monaco of Greece". The unique mythical heritage, traditional charm, lush landscapes, breath-taking beaches, and crystal-clear seas make it one of the most glamorous and sought-after destinations in Greece. Here you will feel safe, comfortable and relaxed.
Andriana is nestled in beautifully maintained tropical gardens just 100 meters from sun-kissed golden beaches of the Ionian Sea. You can spend free time resting in breezy hammocks, enjoy access to the neighboring hotel's pool or hit the beach in less than 2 minutes walking distance. The nearby beach of Aghios Georgios is sandy, long and has won the Blue Flag Award as an indication of its high environmental and quality standards. Further down, only 15 minutes of walking, you can visit the sand dunes that gained fame in one of James Bond's movies and you can also do water sports. Adriana's husband can teach you all the water sports you desire :-)

The retreat center offers single, shared twin, and shared triple accommodation options.
Single: 1 double bed
Shared Twin: 2 single beds
Triple Room: 2-bedroom apartment. One room has 1 double bed and the second room has 2 single beds (only 2 of these rooms are available, so book way in advance if you want the triple accommodation. This is usually the most wanted type of accommodation as it is the best value for money)
All rooms include a thermostatic air conditioning unit, a fully equipped kitchenette, an en-suite bathroom with rain shower, a small but powerful hairdryer, and spacious balconies with either sea or garden view. Guests can enjoy free internet access in the breakfast area and complimentary bicycles. For additional information, please visit https://www.andriana-corfu.com.

Breakfasts will be served daily at Andriana who prepares it herself, making jams from her own fruits, various pies every day, and delicious vegan chocolate cakes. 😋
Light lunches and dinners will be served at Kafesas local taverna, 50 meters from the yoga center, where students will enjoy fresh vegetarian meals with sea view. The owner of the restaurant strictly chooses only vegetables that are locally grown on the island and not only that, but he is very picky with the ingredients he buys. There is also an array of lovely traditional tavernas within walking distance, as well as small general stores, but Kafesas taverna is one of the best in the area.

"Best yoga teacher training!"
Martin and Joanna are excellent teachers and have put together the perfect curriculum for you to deepen your practice and becoming a yoga teacher! I loved the big emphasis on “Adjustments and Alignment”, which I am sure you won’t get most places, at least not in this amount or quality! Definitely the best classes of the course. The two-hour morning yoga classes were excellent. I loved that it changed between Ashtanga and Vinyasa and how much attention the two teachers paid to evolve your practice. I didn’t practice Ashtanga before I got there and wasn’t sure it was really for me. Martin turned that around! I don’t think I will be a “pure ashtangi”, but he really opened my eyes to the practice. I also loved the many workshops we did, to dig into some of the more challenging asanas or working on correct alignment in some of the poses we think we know and regard as easy, but potentially can injure us, because we are doing it wrong (e.g. Chaturanga). We started teaching each other during the first few days, which in my opinion is very important so that you can slowly begin to develop your skills as a teacher. The classes where we taught each other were excellent and we got a lot of usable information on how to teach and build a class. In general, I found that the theoretical classes really opened up to everything behind the physical yoga practice. The place was beautiful, the staff nice and the water amazing. I would with no doubt recommend this teacher training!

"Practice and all is coming!"
An amazing life-changing experience! I could not wish for a better TTC. I am so grateful for the opportunity to study with the best teachers. They are very well educated, passionate and so inspiring. They supported us and motivated us during the whole training because they wanted us to leave as confident teachers with great skills. The knowledge they provided about philosophy and anatomy was enough to understand the concepts of yoga and to encourage us to continue studying. The training was very intense, of course, but the schedule was well planned. When we felt really tired, we always had an easier day ahead of us. It was never boring because every subject had a different teacher. We learned about adjustment, alignment, vinyasa sequencing, pranayama techniques...we covered a lot! For most of us, this was the first real experience with ashtanga yoga and it really provided a great foundation for further studies. In one week we were able to practice in a Mysore class, without any previous experience. The location was amazing, with crystal clear sea, great food and nice, clean accommodation. Thank you for everything!
